Come on...this is as REAL as it gets as far as a Diner goes. A few tables, a broken down ole counter, a grouchy chef, and over-worked waitress...yeah ... all the elements are there. Then, the food. This place has your perfect balance of breakfast and lunch items, all balanced out with nice portions. I recently dined here for lunch, had a very tasty beef n barley soup, and a classic turkey "special". The specials of the day coming out of the kitchen were enormously portioned and were about $6 or $7.

This place really takes you back in time, with both the decor, service and food. Classic diner stuff done very well. It looks like nothing has been changed or remodeled since the 60's and 70's and although some of the stuff looks really tired, it is also very quaint. Service is good and efficient. They claim their grits are the best and they were extremely good. Great texture, good creaminess, seasoned well. The chicken fried steak was perfect, right down to the gravy on top. Bottomless cups of coffee, and of course the half n half is in those little plastic peel off containers. Absolutely wonderful.

I would give one star but don't want to be cruel. The food was edible but definitely not worth 4 stars. I had the southwest omelette. I didn't realize it came with ham so that was my mistake... But every milliliter was loaded with it. They had one ketchup bottle for the entire restaurant. Pretty sure there was hair on my hash browns and food debris in the bottom of my glass. This place is downright gross.

There are many better choices in the Kennett Square area. Food was not fresh or tasty.service was friendly though but I was immediately unwell after eating there.

In the Southern Cooking Olympics, my twang-tongued, Tennessean mother-in-law wins the gold. One of her specialties is sausage gravy. My husband has been relishing it since he could palate solid food. In his eyes, Mama's sausage gravy is incomparable. Second to none. I'm not sure if it's out of stubbornness or just unadulterated optimism, but my husband will order sausage gravy at a restaurant almost every time he sees it on their menu. In our 8 years together, I have witnessed the following scenario more times than I care to count: "Babe, how's the sausage gravy?" "Meh." (Apathetic shrug) Or... "How is it, babe?" "It tastes nothing like my mom's." (Look of disgust) On and on this has gone, to the point where when he orders sausage gravy at a restaurant, I brace myself for his dissatisfaction. I think I've set enough of a precedent. At Fran Keller's, his persistence finally paid off. Watching him eagerly as his plate was placed before him, I sat with anticipation as he took his first bite: "How is it, babe?" With an eyes-closed, goofball look of pure bliss, his reply almost made me fall out of my chair. "Now THIS is how you do sausage gravy." Basic. Inexpensive, and Fantastic Food - Those three work for me.

So I went to Fran Keller's for breakfast/brunch today. My old review was for a different spot. Nothing special about this spot except that the waitress was REALLY nice and the atmosphere is really laid back. The food was average although my omelet was pretty big and my daughter loved the French toast. I tried to takes a picture of the omelet but my phone died. The hot chocolate with whipped cream was great! I didn't eat my toast because the waitress didn't wash her hands after blowing her nose before buttering my toast. Love her, but I couldn't eat it. I was skeptical about the cleanliness of the rest of the staff, but had already ordered and was assuming the food would blow me away. Overall disappointed because I was excited based on all of the reviews.

Diner food. Plain and simple no frills good home cooking. My brother, nephew and I stopped in here for breakfast a couple of weeks ago after getting a haircut. We immediately grabbed a table in the center of the dining room and the waitress took our drink order. There's a ton of breakfast items. I had a fried egg w/ bacon sandwich, my nephew had french toast and unfortunately I don't recall what my brother had at the moment. The kitchen was prompt and the food delivered almost immediately after we ordered. I think we were in and out of there in about 40 minutes. Friendly service, below average prices IMOP and great food. What more can you ask for? Give them a try.

If you are looking for an old fashioned diner, look no further. While you are here, you might be able to ease drop on a conversation between a group of locals and find out what is going on in Kennett Square! LOL

Yelp strikes again. While crashing with some friends I needed breakfast pronto (and not from Dunkin Donuts). Keller's Eatery was walking distance from my place and they served breakfast so off we went. It's located on the main street in downtown Kennett so it was easy to find and was definitely a little hometown diner-type joint. We were able to seat ourselves and I think Fran Keller herself took care of us (she was SO nice). Both of us got omelets (me the mushroom and cheese - I am in Kennett after-all and he the ham and cheese). It came with good Philly style home fries and raisin challah. I hope they just whip the eggs a lot because otherwise I wasted about 2 eggs with what I wasn't able to eat - so full. Prices are great and they have great looking weekend breakfast specials.

Fran's is as small-town as it gets. Simple but delicious food, decor that hasn't been updated in two decades, and waitresses that get so much crap from their boss that I usually tip 50% or up. Considering the more than reasonable price of the food, I won't be going broke anytime soon. Try the chicken fried steak.

Lord, sometimes I miss Pennsylvania. We were headed somewhere else on the little main street in Kennett Square, but that place was closed and this one was open and in we went. Convenience. The omelets made people happy. The steak and eggs were a deal. The raisin bread french toast was delish and the cornbread was divine. Variety, quality and economy. Minus a star because the restaurant was less than spotless. They serve scrapple, and the service was stand-offish at first, but warmed up considerably. Ah, Pennsylvania.

Stopped in for breakfast. Quaint little place - nothing fancy. Friendly servers. Had an omelet - ham and cheese - pretty good, but it was a little overcooked, on the other hand it is huge - so bring your appetite. Good home fries as well.

Only open for breakfast and lunch, it is a good place to get a very reasonable meal. It can be very crowded on weekends but is worth the wait for the crab mushroom and cheese omelet! Weekdays it is the place locals come for a great cup of coffee.
